Seeing a recent post about someone's items being stolen, reminded me that they were lucky their character wasn't deleted.
There is an old thread about account sharing and character deletion/item stealing, but it mentions plenty of time to stop deletion. For some reason I am unsure of, deletion time has been changed from 24 hours (i think it was 24 hours) down to a mere 30 seconds. I can only think of about 2 reasons such a short deletion time would be useful, but none of them outweigh the benefit of a 24+ hour deletion time.
I'd like to suggest changing deletion times back to 24 hours to reduce such risks. Most equipment can easily be replaced, but character level (which takes a few weeks from 1-75 since 3rd job patch reduced the lower level [tq-cv2] quest/wanteds exp by half and about a week minimum from 76 to 85 if work hard) and moolah title/mounts cannot be replaced so simply. I'd imagine most people wouldn't want to continue playing after a character deletion, but if it's just lost gear that's manageable.
It's not just account sharing that can lead to this. If your account gets hacked (either by guessing, or other means, not like the site is https or anything), there is no special pin verification to delete. Though of course you can change your login PIN on website, you can't change inventory pin, so at least your inventory is fairly safe if using a pin on it that you haven't given to anyone.
