depends on the pet you are trying to get boss pets are really good compared to normal pets.
been farming since pet system update and have only gotten unique pets i guess you have to use those moolah things for splicing to get epic now.
btw farming boss dna takes alot longer than normal pets.
farming normal pets doesnt take long at all.

    tip:
dont waste moolah increase scrlls on normal pets only use those on really good pet dna as normal pets arent worth the moolah. only use for boss dna.

ask other ppl that already have whichever particualr pet u have which special abilities that pet has before u waste time farming dna.

yes pets are good if u want to spend lots of time and tears on them.

It's all RNG baby, gotta pray to RNGeezus to get DNA. As for good pets, you might want to consider:

For PVE a pet that inflicts -10% P.def or M.def on attack (such as the Worm-worm from the first maps or Nimpi)
For mixed uses you can use whatever Ranged pet (haven't tested many of these)
For PVP you usually go for pets with Silences, stuns, stuff like that (Seashell Mochi is SPECIALLY good for pvp, its a Panzer type pet with a 5 second stun!)

Try testing pet debufs with the ones you get from scrolls.

That is simply not true so sorry have to correct you on that. The chance to get an epic pet from DNA combining was actually increased compared to the original rates. It's still low ofc, but it was not lowered to try and sell DNA Boosters. The server logs all DNA splicing results and there are plenty of Epic pulls completely in line with how I set the chances.

dont waste moolah increase scrlls on normal pets only use those on really good pet dna as normal pets arent worth the moolah. only use for boss dna.

Not really good advice. Boss pets are not majorly superior to pets you obtain from normal monsters. They have exactly the same base stats and damage as any other pet you might find from normal field monsters, and they do not gain any advantage when it comes to increasing their stats with tonics or gear either - all pets of the same type and rarity are equal when it comes to stats. The only difference would be their normal attack's debuff which have slightly higher numbers, but nothing major really, and the pets attack speed, but again boss pets do not necessarily have higher attack speed than normal pets either.

I would say that if you find a pet with skills that suit your play style or requirement, there is a major advantage to using a booster when splicing the DNA so you get the epic version with epic quality stats and scaling, making your effort of leveling, evolving, and strengthening them even more worthwhile, but pulling the Unique version is almost as good and should be absolutely fine for most.

The only pets that have additional benefits over normal or even boss monsters are pets you buy for Moolah. They have the increased stats that come with the Moolah rarity type as well as increased chance to land the debuff on their autoattacks.

    RoseOrchid,
All pets have their own special debuff on their normal autoattack skill. Currently you can't see what a pet has until you summon it but I am currently adding this information to the scroll tooltips.

You can also teach them skills that increase their own stats, new skills and buffs, and even buffs to you, the player.

Check the skills on the pet trainer, Avery Savannah, in Terminus - look at the Store and then the Master Buffs tab. There is a Heal, MP Heal, Strength increase, Int increase etc. etc. The rank 1 books you see there can be upgraded to rank 10, increasing the heal or stat boost you get.

the only reason is said dont waste moolah chance increase on pet is you cannot tell what its special skill is till u do splice it you might get something crap like -3% magikarp or something
(might be best to farm 2 sets of dna test one first lol) most of the pets ive farmed have been this way only a few are good for my playing style.
but when sedy updates to show what special skill the pokemon...err i mean pets have then you will know and it wont be hassle.

guess im just unlucky ive spliced ungodly amounts of pets with my wiz and have only gotten uni pets and i collected like 40 or more dna of those sorcerers in tainted fen every single splice came out crap.
ive spliced about 15 starfish from pandan cove all crap (normal or uni).
this is only a few of the ones ive spliced.
i did get an epic pet from a pet on a different character like 2 months after the pet system update but havent seen one since and ive spliced butt loads of dna.
im not saying its not possible to get epic it is just very very very (like finding some lvl 4 recipe) rare unless you are lucky.
been farming that dang lvl 4 absorb recipe since febuary of this year and it is still a no show people say it drops but jeesh 8 months is too long for me i quit farming.

the boss pets ive seen have way better special skills and sometimes 3 or more effects compared to the 1 skill trash mob pets. for instance look at special skills of articunis from toai that pet is ungodly strong for pvp and it can dish out 3 or 4 effects

Hmm all pets have 1 autoattack debuff, but some do have multiple different debuffs in 1 skill like Arcturis - he has slow, atk speed reduce and skill para I think, for 8s, but so do some field monsters. He is particularly good though :D

Unique is fine really, considerably better than Rare, and if you want the pet for buffing and occasional debuffing it doesn't even need to be Epic. I would only obsess about it being Epic or above if I wanted to use it for consistent damage dealing and survivability in the high level content, otherwise Unique is more than adequate.

it all comes down to luck just like everything else when it comes to splicing, but at least you have the option of getting a guaranteed epic version if you spend some moolah on a booster.
