System Info: MSI (Micro Star) 880GM-E41, Memory Type: 4
x 2GB DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-8500,
DDR3 (non-ECC), AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor (be)
with the cooler on it, ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series with
fan and 900 watt power supply. My problems are this.
When i go to start my pc at times it won't start, the
fan on the graphic card will start to spin a little bit
but acts like it don't have enough power to turn over.
my pc doesnt start. I tried swapping the power and
reset buttons, tried unplugging the case fans the small
ones and the large one on the side, i have checked the
wires inside each time and have yet to find a loose one
or cut one, My comp does loose the dvd drive sometimes
almost like the SATA cable looses connection, the power
still works on it but it dont show up under my computer
as even being there. where C drive etc are located....
i will usually have to turn the main power button off
in back for about a minute and try and power on again,
sometimes takes 3 to 5 times before it will start up,
once running it runs great the heat stays down the
power levels look good i am at a total loss and could
use some outside views. thanks for any help....

Yes, the PC is trying to start, but it does not O_o
I've had this issue when I messed up in the bios processor settings and got my processor stuck. The pc was having the exact same behaviour. I needed to replace it with another and default my bios settings to run it back.
The drivers are loading on the Windows Loading screen, not before that thus, it can't be driver failure.
Go read some articles how PC works :whistle: -

It can't be a driver issue, most of the times you get blue screens if drivers didn't apply correctly. His pc just won't start.
yeah most of the time unless its a driver conflict then your pc just wont start
Tell me more about how many years of computer engineering you got, eh?
You can ALWAYS start your computer, no matter what driver you put on, this is why there is safe mode and bios settings.
I was having issues MANY times, and all of the times I was getting blue screen upon windows load, because that's the time where they load, upon windows boot start.
Or you're trying to tell me that when you install Driver, your PC can get stuck, and you won't be able to start it at all? Then what? Genius.
im not going to brag about my pc experience or qualifications ive got only nabs do that, just because you have had problems FTW it dont mean your correct the op said the pc was trying to start so its not dead and nothing was mentioned about him trying to use safe mode or enter the bios so it could easily a driver issue aswell as alot of other things but hey if your right your right :dry: -

ciausien, get come compressed air and try it in the fans. It sounds like your fans are dusty, chunks of dust get really hot when the computer is on, and when it is off they become chunks again. If your computer is on and it takes it some minutes to turn on, it might mean that the CPU or gfx card fans are going slowly around to get the chunks warmed up again so they can move as they must.
Not making this up, I've seen this happen 2 times and it sounds very much like your case. -

Have you tried with another power supply? 450W and above seems fine for me, considering your configuration. 900W is a bit high, of course of you're not planning an update.
Does your case have speaker? Should be connected somewhere near your power off/restart button cables, but depends on your Main board. If so:
Try getting out parts one by one, first off start with the Ram, take both out and try starting the pc, the speaker should start beeping that something is missing, if it does then the ram is fine.
Skip hard disks, they most-likely show nothing important. Unplug your processor cable, it looks like square, most of the times it's white and near your processor's fan, then again check about beeping.
Then proceed to the video card, you need take the whole plate out, yet again listen for beeping.
But first of all before you do all this, make sure you test with another power supply.
For me, it sounds like motherboard problem.
