Hey everyone!
I may not have the right to suggest such adjustment or additional implementation in the battlefield but I do hope it will give way to a much better idea.
Anyway, it's not a big addition anyway.
So, hear me out.
I've only played in this server for a few days now, this also includes the time when I played when this server was still new. I'm sure that my total playing time is approximately around 100 hours only. However, I have played countless hours in retail, although I was not among the players who have reached the level cap of 75.
So battlefield queueing...
In this server, we can safely say that majority of the people playing have already reached the level cap of 85. That being said, even though a lot of players have reached that goal sometimes the battlefield doesn't even start and the reason is because
there's not enough players.
So why is there not enough players? Well, there are various reasons for that:
1. Some players are AFK or BRB
2. Some are probably doing something else. Homework, maybe? Chores? Cleaning his/her room? There are a lot of things.
3. Some maybe Alt-tabbed the game while waiting for the queue to appear but maybe ended up forgetting all about it.
4. Some probably thought they pressed the "Yes" button and BRB a while to do something else but when they came back, they were not teleported to the battlefield.
And much more reasons (I can't think of any).
During my stay in retail, battlefields don't even start that often. Some people don't queue because they hate being against with OP players (Being killed countless times while you are helpless or too weak is quite boring and demotivating). So me, being someone who is camping level 60, I gathered some of my friends from my bracket, and their friends to agree upon a time when we can all log in at the same time and queue. None of us were OP. Some OP people joined but they were only like 1 or 2 people. It became successful and soon became our routine for like 2 weeks or so. Sometimes the queue won't start because a friend forgot to queue or was AFK or something. But all I can say is what makes Iris Online fun is the time spent doing battlefields and PK.
So my suggestion?
1. Don't settle for the old queueing message box. It can be changed to something with a little tweak. For example: once the message box pops up, a sound will start playing. Any sound will do as long as it's an attention-grabber. This will prompt people who are BRB or waiting for the queue to know that the battlefield queue is up. By having a sound, a person will know that a queue is up and it doesn't need them to keep on glancing on the screen.
2. Put a list. Once the queue is up, a list of queued players will appear. the window can be maximized or minimized just like the Raid window. Players' names are listed alphabetically.
3. Put another minute for queueing so it totals to two (2) minutes. Battlefield matches can be reduced by a minute to compensate for the additional queueing time. For me, I'd wait for another minute and hope more players will join rather than wait like exactly one minute just to be disappointed due to lack of players.
These are just my opinion and suggestions. Feel free to comment.
