(Game show host/infomercial voice) Let's face it, lugging your ass back to town to decompose items to free up inventory space is a pain. Not to mention while you are farming for items to decompose, your inventory becomes messy and less manageable.

(Billy Mays mode) Kage here, introducing new Hammer Time! (Mobile decomposition... just having a little fun while writing this). With my new Hammer Time, you can break things on the go. No more pointless conversations with vendors who've only an interest in shiny things. You can break that ring apart for it's raw materials instead of having to worry about Gollum keeping your precious for himself!

Just open up your mobile decomposition tool from your game menu (or moolah item or whatever) and it's Hammer Time! SLAM! WHAM! BANG BOOM BAM! Instant gratification and material to improve your quality of life!

Edit: Could also be a tear item, or gold or anything. Point is to have mobile decomposition that acts similar to enhancing, card installation, assistant skill, etc (other things that can do without npc)

In the UK we use 'is' quite often as a replacement for 'was'. at least that's what we do in Scotland. Also I do not think this is the necessary place to post something like that. Perhaps messaging Sedy about it personally next time.

Doing this makes NPCs obsolete, farming and decomping is meant to be a bother and troublesome, and many have spent quite a lot of time doing it and with the smaller inventory bags. Now that players have bigger bags they want things to become more accessible because of their own laziness.
If this was to become a feature chances are it will become a Moolah item along with the other convenient items such as the remote thing that gives access to mail, storage & AH.

As it is a message after the it has been created, felt was would be more appropriate, but really it's a trivial thing. Didn't feel it deserved it's own thread even and would just post as a side comment. I do know different countries/cultures have different usages of words and if UK uses 'is' for past tense, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Doesn't change the meaning anyways as long as you know the context.

And yeah, laziness/convenience is kind of the point. While obviously it would be nice to be free and fully implemented, I can see the reasoning for it being a moolah item and maybe just costing 1 or 2 moolah (if expensive I would kind of expect it to be tradable, so don't have to buy for every character). For most games, the game tends to be better/more balanced overall when cash shop consists of convenience/appearance only. As this is a private server run off user donations and a (relatively) low population, it's acceptable for the stat boosting things in moolah npcs.

As for making NPC's obsolete... well, I wouldn't mind that, going to npc's is a pain, but that would require disjoining quests from NPC's and making purchasing of gold, tear, trophy, moolah, etc items accessible without npc's, which I really don't think is possible nor part of iris's mechanics/system. The bigger inventories are definitely an improvement over the past and would make it easier to decomp equipment on the go while you are in a dungeon, looting a world boss, in VH, or just farming out in the open world without going back to town and holding up your party. Luckily NS is a server that evolves and it is something that can be accommodated I believe, if users seem to like the idea and so do admins.

I actually do end up with a lot of ideas and occasionally post suggestions (when i've pm'ed sedy in the past, he'll often say to post things so doesn't forget), some are winners, most losers. Too many changes, change the game, but if don't post suggestions no matter how dumb, things will never change, and Sedy seems to be on a roll lately with updating Iris, which really needed it badly... the game was stale before the new dungeons and battlefields.

Well could have mentioned someone else, but feel I must use him specifically to keep his torch alive. Infomercials and As Seen on TV just hasn't been the same since his loss... Not that I actually watch real live TV now days.

Random side note: I'm over commenting, because when I make a thread I tend to respond to almost every post in that thread as the OP. One, gives life to the thread I guess, but two, as the person who came up with a suggestion, tend to have a bit of mechanics/process worked out in head and answer any questions that pop up or make rebuttals for concerns about an implementation. Soon as Admin says no or 2-3 days pass, I stop even looking at threads and leave it's fate to the Admins/other users.

But yes, can use either really but "was" would be more correct. There's lots of bad grammar throughout the site tbh, especially in the community section.

I actually thought of doing this once before but never got around to actually implementing it.
I would like to add this and the mail system straight into the game interface menus.

Games tend to put a lot of stuff on NPCs in a town area to get people all in one place so there is a sense of community, which is partly why I put most of the dungeon entry NPCs in Terminus, but I don't think it would hurt to move decomp (and mail) to the menu system. I would find it most annoying to have to keep going back to town to decomp items before I could continue farming. It would be far more convenient and lets face it, this is a game and should be enjoyable, not a headache.

I am soooo not a grammar nazi. I have horrible grammar. Just don't post too often and noticed. I don't care much about people's individual grammar, particularly since NS has such a large international audience. Only pointed out because it's site/backend based which usually is more important for a professional appearance. -hide away- But yeah if there's a lot, probably a lot of work, and much rather have new content than website be fully grammatically correct.

I can completely agree with that. Mail slightly less important, since most maps have mailboxes. But occasionally have people send you things while in a dungeon or requests for terminus scroll by people who aren't even on a map with a mailbox and have to run a map or two over. But definetely don't want to lower incentive for people to gather in town.

To be honest, the casual Terminus community Iris has always had is my favorite feature of Iris and the thing I miss the most when I play other games. While new content gets me to revisit Iris, Terminus is usually what gets me to stay and spend long pointless hours in game (.. I don't do it to tear farm... though it is a nice added benefit)

I really have a problem with this if decomp and mail are added outside of the moolah item I bought just to not have to go to mailboxes. Coming from retail I understand what an absolute breezy cakewalk NS Iris. Those who only know NS don't understand that this is already very very modified to make way too much super easy in my opinion. One day of wanted papers in NS is like 15 days of papers in retail if I remember the conversion, not to mention as you said that the dungeons were moved right to town square lol.

I think npcs are good as they are. Those new to Iris via NS will have no idea how hard and "inconvenient" Iris was truly designed to be (make a +10 anything in retail), and this pretty much shows that lol. I say that it should stay as is for two reasons. One, it's not worth the bugs and issues that would come from changing the GUI (i remember how long it took to work out the larger boxes [which retail never had ever]). And two, it would undermine moolah items already purchased if it wasn't just an added feature. And moolah items being undermined is a real problem I am having with Iris at the moment.

I can understand your complaint about mail based on the moolah item that lets you access warehouse, auctionhouse and mail all in one. Though it is still convenient for the auction house and warehouse, so it's usage is not fully eliminated if Sedy moves mail to menu, and that item is very very very old, had been in Moolah npc for years. Many of us have experienced moolah items extra benefit loss over time. Costumes get better, moolah rare cards and wearing cards moved to tear npc to make room for higher versions of the cards. etc.

Also, this thread wasn't about mail, that is just something Sedy brought up as another thing he has considered in the past, but never got around to doing. This thread is indeed about decomp, which was never a moolah item and has no major negative impact on players (moolah or not).

As for retail... Sedy knows retail, Selka knows retail, I don't know about Kyleakin, and I know retail (played retail almost continuously from day 3 of closed beta until retail closed, 2 level 65+ in retail and ran a lisk raid). We all know retail was hard. It was overly hard, and people complained about the difficulty to level back then too. Limit of dailies/wanteds to once per day made it incredibly hard to level. Yes, NS is much easier, most PServs for games end up easier than their retail counterparts. When people spend time grinding and leveling in retail they don't really want to come back here to do it again. Dailies and wanteds are not actually content, they are filler intended to make the game last. NS has lots of other content to make the game last. I can't say I've ever picked up and played a game because i like to grind mindlessly for hours on end..

As for enhancing... I had probably 10 lvl 65 +10 weapons in retail, shared them with my guildies. They were hard to make. Cost a lot of money too. All that money, time and effort felt really good when retail closed. If NS closed and I spent that much time, effort and money on it, I'd feel like a total idiot for falling into that trap twice.

Now, the only reason I mention the above is because you seem to think the people who have posted here have no idea what iris is about and never played REAL iris retail. Many of us have and I know quite a few NS players who I knew/played with in retail. If you happened to have just started NS recently before the easter patch, you probably did not experience what NS was like long ago, particularly when retail was still around (yes I poked NS while still playing retail). You actually used to be able to reach level cap in 3 days if you tried. While not a big deal for experienced players, I do think it taking a week or two is beneficial for new players who don't know the game well. I think Sedy has improved that difference greatly and found a good balance.

Tbh, I don't think moving decomp into menu item would be all that bug prone as long as Sedy knows what he is doing, same for mail access. These are not major new mechanics, just changing how they are 'popped up'/accessed in game. It can be tough on people when systems change, but Iris is actually a pretty old game now and not really in line with modern game design (Eyasoft tends to make the same games over and over, just reuses resources from previous games mostly to piece new games together)

Sorry for derailing this thread with mention of adding mail system to the interface but I feel I should probably explain why I want to do this. It's because I have recently added levelup mails for new players that contain a few free items to help them level but more importantly, pointers for them to go job change, visit dungeons etc. These are quite often missed because people don't notice them until they come across a postbox and by then they have levelled past the items level etc. which defeats their purpose.
Adding mail to the interface wouldn't really devalue the moolah item because most people use that for remove access to the AH and their warehouse I believe.
Anyway, times change and the game has to change with it.
